How to play shuffleboard

How to play shuffleboard
Traditional Shuffleboard
• Both teams start on the same side of the table.
• Choose a team to go first.
• Teams alternate shooting pucks, until all 8 pucks are shot.
• Scoring – whoever has their puck furthest down the table scores. Only pucks ahead of their opponents score.
All other pucks do not score.
• Any scoring puck on a line is in the lower scoring zone.
• The scoring zones are marked, however if a puck is hanging off the end of the table, this is called a hanger and is worth 4 points.
• Once scoring is completed, remove all pucks.
• Teams now shoot in the opposite direction,
and change who shoots first.
• First team to 15 points is the winner.
Alternative Scoring for Traditional Shuffleboard
• When scoring add the total scoring pucks for each team.
• The team with the higher score, scores the difference of their score and their opponent’s score. Example - If black scores 6, and yellow scores 4, then black scores 2 points for the round.
Horse Collar Shuffleboard
• On a team’s turn, shoot all 8 pucks from one side of the table.
• Scoring – to score, the team must have at least 1 puck in the 3 or 4 scoring zone and no pucks in the foul zone.
Failure to do so results in a foul and that team’s turn is over.
• The scoring is same as in traditional game, but hanger scores 13.
If a team can hang the puck on the back corner – this is a double hanger and is worth 26 points.
• First team to score 51 points is the winner.
Crazy 8’s Shuffleboard
• On a team’s turn, they take all pucks of one color, Using one hand slide all 4 pucks across the table at once.
• All 4 pucks must remain on the table and none may land
in the foul zone.
Failure to do so results in a foul and that team’s turn is over.
• If successful, the team now uses the opposite colour pucks. Shooting one at a time, try to remove the initial pucks from the table.
• If successful, the team scores any remaining pucks on the table, using the same scoring zones as traditional shuffleboard.
• If unsuccessful, the turn is a foul and that team’s turn is over.
• First team to 15 is the winner.
